YOU DON'T DECIDE "WEAR" I GO!!!

Today I woke up very frustrated apart from the fact that my roomie annoyed the hell out of me, I woke up to an awful post about how women should not wear short clothes, okay, i mean men had a limit of dress codes and hairstyles too and ahhhh... Okay, Maybe some of you will find me very stupid, maybe some of you will be against me but I am hoping that at one point, some of you will understand me.

I am deeply bothered by this because:-

  1. WHO DOES THIS LAW DIRECTLY AFFECT?
I am an artist and at this point I will tell you it affects us a lot. First because as a fashion designer you are giving me a limitation of design. You are telling me that I can not design a mini dress because it is only going to be worn by the beach or by the rich people in range rovers and hammers that obviously will never step out of their cars in muddy roads so again

  • You are affecting the middle and low class people. I mean let's be real how will you catch a rich kid? Is this really about class?
  • What about the performers? people that carry our country flag out of the country and continent even? How will you make V. Money wear a long dress, ok, maybe it will work at one point but if we are being real, we are going back to the middle and law class people.
2. DON'T YOU THINK YOU MAKING PEOPLE SKIP A STAGE?
I think and feel like everyone has a stage as a person to pass through, some people do not really go through the notorious "I wear what I want" phase, but for those who do? Imagine your son or brother going on his first day at the university and he is so excited he wears a cut off jeans (Cause it is next) and he gets arrested because of that like really?

3. DOESN'T OUR COUNTRY HAVE BIGGER PROBLEMS?
Do not get me wrong, I am not trying to strike or create any trouble but I have to say, I would love the authority to first work on what problems there are in the country, why this? we speak about building industries when we are shutting down one. We talk about collecting revenue when we discourage people to want to build anything. honestly this hurt me so very much.

I will say this one last thing, everyone is free and has personal human rights, if this law is carried out it will be straight up neglecting them. This may shut down in a day or week but this is a volcano waiting to erupt, it starts in the office, you go in government offices and you shouldn't be in pants for girls, it doesn't matter if it is jeans or tailored pants you are going no where and the sad part is that people make money out of this. I went to the immigration office with jeans, after 5 minutes of listening to people's judgement of how "Sijavaa kiheshima" I went out and found women renting their Khanga and Vitenge and Mitandio for tshs 2-3000 /= (Do they pay rent?)  after i returned and found people still talking about my jeans...like seriously? there were people there and no one said anything..they stayed silent after i walked in but why? this guy was twice my age and he was tripping about buggy boyfriend jeans saying they were not respectable...like REALLY??! what is next? bikinis are not allowed... and we build bikini scanners? followed by uniforms? I feel like this problem originates from a silly man oriented society. Men think they are in charge of everything, women and other men. I think that is wrong, just because something bothers you does not mean it bothers me. And what ever happened to tolerance? to be able to tolerate something that you would not do?  and I do not think which is worse, the people that scream and yell in streets  and it is mostly at women or people that watch others get harassed, and stripped and shamed and stand there and do nothing. I don't think this is the government, this is the people. You see someone being harassed and shamed, defend them. You see people yelling "Kavae nguo"meaning "go get dressed" stand up for them. You have no right over them AND YOU HAVE NO RIGHT OVER ME.
WHAT I WEAR IS WHAT I WANT believe it or not, i don't really wear short clothes in daylight and in public but it does not mean that i should protest and wage a war about your style choice.
I AM NOT WAGING A STRIKE & PLEASE DO NOT USE MY POST AS AN OPPORTUNITY TO STRIKE. TANZANIA IS A PEACEFUL COUNTRY, WE DO NOT FIGHT, WE SOLVE AND I AM KINDLY ASKING FOR A LAW THAT PROTECTS YOUTH, THAT PROTECTS THE FUTURE CHILDREN. A LAW THAT WILL MAKE ALL THE IDIOTS THAT SCREAM "KAVAE NGUO" IN THE STREETS FEAR PICKING UP THEIR "VUVUZELAS" BECAUSE THE POLICE IS BY THE PEOPLE'S SIDE AND NOT AGAINST THEM. IF THERE REALLY IS ANYONE THAT ACTUALLY CARES AND ACTUALLY LISTENS THEN THIS SHALL BE ANSWERED.
I AM A PATRIOT... AND I LOVE MY COUNTRY...PLEASE DO NOT PUSH ME AWAY FROM THAT.
